Coyote Ridge, along with The Abbey Event Complex is excited to bring you Ray Scott to our outdoor concert lineup! Join us on August 11th on the grounds of the beautiful Abbey! Gates open at 6 pm, The opener that we picked for Ray fits his style extremely well, he will take the stage at 7 pm and Ray will take the stage at 8:30 pm!
As a songwriter, his songs have been recorded by well-known artists such as Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, Clay Walker, Ward Davis, and others.
American Songwriter recognized his EP “Nowhere Near Done”, as one of their top albums of 2020. In the attached article they compare his songwriting to that of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine.
“Cover the Earth” was his 10th project that was released on 17 September 2021….and on 18 September; he made his 65th appearance on the Grand Ole’ Opry.
From the moment you press play on Cover the Earth, Scott’s 9th release overall, that deep baritone voice and those whiskey brown, rich guitar tones reach right through the speakers and damn near slap you in the face. The fact remains, that if you’re looking for solid country music, this is the way it’s done.
While Ray Scott’s records rarely come with many surprises, Ray takes a few new shots on Cover the Earth. It’s not that he strays very far from his top dead center. Hell, with a voice like his and the lyrics he writes, anything Ray does is going to be country. That said, Cover the Earth has a few new bullets in the gun and a little more fuzz than anything he’s done in the past.
“I wasn’t just inspired by old classic country music. Obviously, that was a big part of it but growing up when I did, all that seventies and eighties rock was all around and there was a time I lived on a steady diet of that.
