Situational Awareness Scenarios

August 10 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

What does readiness look like in today’s world—and tomorrow’s?

Join us for a grounded in-depth and interactive scenario-based workshop focused on increasing situational awareness and exploring preparedness strategies around major solar events. We’ll take an approach grounded in logic, collaboration, and foresight, and discuss current challenges that are real and on people’s minds – economic and financial uncertainty, political and global divisions, extreme weather events and impacts. No fear tactics – thoughtful exploration and actionable insights. This session, led by Ben, introduces a four-phase framework to guide practical thinking around key elements of self-reliance and community support:

The Four Phases of Readiness

Phase 1 – The Now: Understanding today’s unique extraordinary challenges

Phase 2 – Disruption: Preparing for potential interruptions to essential services

Phase 3 – Transition: Navigating periods of uncertainty, challenges and adaptation

Phase 4 – Recovery & Renewal: Building strength and structure for the future

Key Topics Include:

Water and resource access

Food systems and preservation

Shelter and personal security

Communication strategies

Mental resilience and community collaboration

We’ll also examine how familiar portrayals in films such as Knowing, Sunshine, and The Day After Tomorrow can serve as discussion tools for imagining and preparing for real-world scenarios.

What to Bring:
Notebook, pen, and a willingness to think critically and engage respectfully with others.

This event emphasizes practical knowledge, shared insight, and responsible planning.
