Ride the Royal 50
The Royal Gorge Region’s newest event highlights miles of new trail at the Cañon City’s Royal Gorge Park. If you’re looking for a new mountain bike ride with scenery that rivals anywhere in Colorful Colorado, look no further than the Royal 50 Mountain Bike Race. Choose from a 50-mile course or a 20-mile beginner mountain bike course, each with varying levels of difficulty that range from moderate to difficult single-track trails.
The event will begin with an 8:00 a.m. start on the famed Royal Gorge Bridge – which is suspended high above the Arkansas River. From here, riders will enter a singletrack trail system that offers flowy downhill, technical ascents, and views that stretch from the Arkansas River to the distant Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It’s quite a sight – and one that riders will be able to enjoy while on a supported course with well-stocked aid stations and plenty of elevation gain/loss.
Fremont Adventure Recreation is proud to host the first annual race, which is destined to become a local favorite. A post-ride festival will be held at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Musical entertainment, a meal, and a beer will be included in the race price. Participants and family members will be able to relax on the South Rim of the Royal Gorge while enjoying musical entertainment and an unparalleled view of the mountains. Family members and friends are encouraged to join participants at the Royal Gorge for a family-friendly experience for all.
