Fremont County Arts and Theater

Arts and theater thrive in Fremont County, where several organizations work hard to provide locals and visitors first-rate cultural experiences.

The Fremont Center for the Arts is the hub of the Royal Gorge Region’s art and theater scene. It offers multi-purpose venue spaces for a variety of groups, musicians, and artists. Classes for every age are taught, workshop space is available for artists, and monthly rotating exhibits showcase a wide range of themes and mediums.

The Fremont Civic Theater has provided the Royal Gorge Region with theatrical experiences since 1947. It produces a full season of shows annually, including large scale musicals, plays, children’s theatre, and a New Year’s Eve murder mystery fundraiser/dinner theatre.

The Florence Arts Council also makes a large imprint on Fremont County’s art scene. With headquarters in the Bell Tower Cultural Center, the organization engages in partnerships with other local non-profit groups and community organizations to provide exhibitions and performances. The Fremont Arts Council’s signature event is Paint the Town, held every year in October.

Enjoy an outdoor art celebration at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, which hosts Art in the Park. This event features dancers, musical performances, theater, artists, and jewelry makers. Other activities include fire dancers, face painting, slack line performances, rock painting, and Dino Daze displays.
